On Monday, people?s deputies Iryna Herashchenko, Olha Herasymyuk, Oleksandr Tretyakov, Kyrylo Kulykov and Vitaliy Chepynoha accused the official web-site of the Parliament of selective presentation of information for the benefit of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
In this respect, the Press Service and the Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat, who publish the news and information on the web-site of the Parliament, remind that the web-site is the official source of information created to highlight thoroughly the activity of the Parliament, including people?s deputies of Ukraine, among whom are the administration of the Verkhovna Rada.
It is necessary to note that publishing information about political and legislative activity of the Heads of Parliaments is an established global practice on official web-sites of the parliaments of foreign countries.
None of the messages of the Press Service concerning the activity of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine contains either agitational materials, or information about his work as a candidate for deputy, which can be seen from the general analysis of texts.
Statistical information about the number of daily pieces of information and pictures on the activity of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is highly biased and mutilated.
The claim of the authors about the drawbacks of structure of the web-site in regard to highlighting information about the bills is quite surprising. The authors of the address, three of whom used to be professional journalists, simply confuse the genres of information work: news and information about the main legislative activity of the Parliament.
We inform the authors of the address, who, unfortunately, have not bothered to learn the structure and content of the official web-site, that the Information Department published 484 pieces of information about consideration of bills at parliamentary committees during the tenth session (06.02.2012-13.07.2012), and the information about the bills is published on 373 pages of the respective section. In addition, 17 pieces of information about the results of work of the committees during the tenth session and plans of their work for the eleventh session were published in the inter-session period (17.07.2012-23.08.2012).
We also inform that, during the tenth session, the authors of the address submitted 4 bills, one draft resolution and one amendment to the bill; three of them have not submitted any amendments or bills, which can be proved by the information published on the official web-site of the Parliament.
Considering the biased character of the address of the abovementioned deputies, which was published outside parliamentary information resources, the only conclusion that could be made is that this address is a publicity move of these candidates for people?s deputies.
